Garment Care

At Shades of You, every garment is lovingly handprinted and dyed using the traditional batik technique, making each piece unique and artisanal in nature. Although our colours are colour-fast and do not bleed, we strongly recommend washing your garment separately for the first wash. Subsequent washes can be done with similar coloured garments. Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle works well, while gentle handwashing is considered ideal to preserve the fabric, print, and dye quality.

Dry your garments away from direct sunlight and harsh heat, as prolonged sun exposure can affect colour longevity. With proper care, our colours remain vibrant and beautiful for up to the first 50 washes. Since all our products are made using natural fabrics, they are breathable, skin-friendly, and easy to maintain. You may iron them at any temperature suitable for the fabric type; however, ironing on the reverse side is always recommended to protect the print.

Avoid soaking for long durations, using harsh detergents, bleach, stain removers, or fabric softeners, as these can damage natural fibres and affect colour depth. For best results, use mild liquid detergents and gentle wash cycles.
